10: Truth & Abundance on this Galactic New Year

8-8 Lions Gate portal opens up to a new chapter in Chicago

Happy Galactic New Year!

I apologize for my voice. I lost it because we partied with our friends who visited us from Florida. We went out to Lollapalooza this weekend, and so I partied a bit, but it was also a crazy week. And we're currently here in Chicago figuring out our move.

The Husband and I have been looking for homes to buy, and it will be the first time we've ever bought our home.

Wow. Talk about abundant energy. That's what I'm feeling right now—a lot of abundance and excitement. And so, with all of this, I am just trying to make sure that I am grounded as we step forward into this new chapter of our lives.

I took a couple of months off talking about my creative journey, and I'm not going to beat myself up for not being consistent.

I think the idea of consistency is interesting for me because consistency for me is all about consistent flow and consistent alignment versus finding a specific day every week or every month to post.

And I realized that about myself, and this is part of my creative process. For some people who are creatures of habit can do things consistently on the same day at the same time. And that's just not how I roll. I am a lot more fluid.

I wish I had better habits, but you know, I can't beat myself up, like I said.

I have so much to catch up on. We went to Europe for a month, and it was an incredibly, surprisingly full trip. It was both fulfilling and adventurous and something that I thought I didn't have enough energy for. But it ended up being exactly the time and space that I needed to process all the work that I've done earlier this year with my nonprofit, WeXL, and with the kids and how working with the youth has changed me as a person, as a human being.

I feel a lot of gratitude right now.

Right before recording this, I read through every post I posted on “Adventures of the Creative”. . . And it's not that bad!

I was being hard on myself and thinking I wanted to quit my newsletters because I thought that it was awful. It's not. It's not bad at all. I am proud of myself for putting out pieces that are truly connected to my truth.

And that's all I can ask of myself is to bring you a truth.

Oh, and that's just what I've been using as a compass for myself — for my own adventures — is just seeking this sort of truth or being guided by the truth.

And it's not about data either. I think about that a lot, being in San Francisco for 13 years and being surrounded by Silicon Valley technology and how important data is. I started realizing that, as a former journalist, the truth doesn't necessarily come from data because data can be manipulated into whatever it is you want to communicate.

Data still requires analysis, and I find a lot more truth in art.

Not art that is called “art” just for the sake of being called “art.” For example, “AI art.” Right? I'm talking about the art created by human beings that is connected to something that is of your own being.

Art is something you experience, and you realize that it's speaking truthfully to you.

That's what makes art, art.

And that's why I have this Substack.

I am exploring my own emotional journey as I create.

The act of creating is divine.

I wish for you, for me, for all of us to be able to connect to the divinity within each and every one of us so that we can bring forth the truth into this reality.

I wish you a great Lions Gate, 8-8, infinity, infinitesimal abundance in your life. Please comment below your intentions and your wishes for this galactic new year. Oh, I love new chapters. I love sunrises and new years.

Big hugs to you.

May you receive all the abundance.

Goldie’s Box of Tricks, Tools, and Treasures

Our voyage on The Creative isn’t always smooth sailing, but no worries! My imaginary friend Goldie shares her box of tricks, tools, and treasures to help us with a more joyful journey.

  • A Trick: Be sure to find a real estate broker who understands your desires and is aligned with your values. Never try to DIY the buying process! Shout out to our representatives from @properties: Jennefer Folsom, Megan Fealy, and Jon Gerstein.

  • A Tip: “All you have to do is write one true sentence. Write the truest sentence that you know.” — Ernest Hemingway.

  • A Treasure: Chicago is full of art and culture that is often overlooked. Be sure to add it to your bucket list if you haven’t been!
