I'm testing out this new way of “writing,” and we'll see if it works.
I skipped a week of my newsletter because I just lost a bit of affection for it. I don't know if I wanna continue doing it that consistently anymore, but that's exactly why I started the Substack newsletter so that I can be consistent with my writing.
But here I am again, pausing, trying to figure out if I should keep continuing. I've been loving the work that I've been doing with my writing partner, Eileen, on the TV series. I also love my writing group, and I've got a great timeline and plan on what I need to accomplish this year.
What got me off course from the Substack is posting on TikTok. The Husband asked me, why am I posting on my social media right now? And he's right. I told myself I wouldn't worry about social media, I would just worry about posting consistently. No, strike that writing consistently.
That was my goal this year.
When I look at social media, particularly TikTok, cuz I really like it, I get good responses, and I meet really cool people, but then it does still require energy. Ironically on TikTok, The High Priestess of Brooklyn said, "Energy flows where your attention goes."
And that's true because even one small little post on TikTok takes energy. That's why I'm wondering if I should continue with Substack because I realized that I might need to write a novel series for the TV series that we're writing a pilot to. And that's going to take a lot of attention.
That gets me really excited. It really does. But then, I'm going to abandon yet another thing that I started doing, which is "Adventures of the Creative," and that makes me sad, and it makes me feel like I'm letting myself down again.
So maybe the answer here is, stop doing TikTok again, and continue my commitment to myself of writing consistently on "Adventures of The Creative."
I like the frequency. It's once a week. It lets me exercise my ability to form a coherent statement versus being all over the place with my thoughts.
I don't know if it's of any value to anybody. I appreciate that I've got some subscribers, and a couple of my friends are supporting this blog or whatever it is.
Ah, well, we're just here to create from the heart, right?
Okay, well, let's just create from the heart, and I'm not going to put too much pressure on this newsletter.
